**Judge Rules Telvin Hairston’s Case to Proceed to Grand Jury Following Alleged Triple Shooting**

*CHATHAM, Va. – A Pittsylvania County judge has determined that Telvin Hairston’s case will advance to a grand jury to decide if he will stand trial for alleged crimes committed in June. The ruling came after evidence presented in General District Court was deemed to have probable cause.*

During the proceedings, the Pittsylvania County Commonwealth's Attorney introduced critical evidence, including a 9-1-1 call and home security footage, alongside testimonies from four witnesses. Notably, Kierra Martin, Hairston’s children's mother, and her sister, Keyanna Martin, testified against him. Both women alleged that Hairston shot them and their grandmother, 82-year-old Margie Watkins.

Keyanna Martin, who spent two months recovering in the hospital and now requires a walker due to her injuries, recounted the harrowing events. Hairston faces eight charges, including first-degree murder, malicious wounding, and breaking and entering.

Hairston was arrested on June 22, 2024, after allegedly shooting the three victims in their Axton home. Following his arrest, investigators reported that Hairston confessed, claiming the shootings occurred because he was denied access to his children.

Joseph Watkins, Margie Watkins' nephew, recounted the tragic circumstances, stating that Hairston forcibly entered the home armed with a gun and axe. He emphasized his aunt’s bravery, noting, “She always said that she would take a bullet for her grandkids, so she died doing what she said she was going to do.”
