**High-Speed Chase in Henry County Leads to Arrests and Injured Deputy**

**HENRY COUNTY, Va.** – A high-speed pursuit on Saturday, September 21, resulted in the arrest of two men and left one deputy injured, according to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 2:11 p.m., a deputy recognized a white Buick linked to a recent larceny at a local business. When the deputy ran the vehicle's tag, he discovered discrepancies and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The driver, later identified as 35-year-old Carlton Haizlip of Eden, NC, fled, driving recklessly down Greensboro Road.

The chase escalated as Haizlip turned onto Main Street and then onto Highway 87 towards North Carolina. During the pursuit, a deputy executed a Precision Immobilization Technique (P.I.T. maneuver), causing Haizlip's vehicle to slide into an embankment. However, this maneuver resulted in the deputy's leg being pinned between the suspect's vehicle and the patrol car.

Haizlip fled the scene on foot but was later apprehended in Myrtle Beach, SC, where he awaits extradition back to Henry County. He faces several charges, including felony eluding police and assault on law enforcement. The stolen vehicle, a 2006 Saturn, was also recovered in Myrtle Beach.

Two other individuals were found in the suspect vehicle. Ronald Haizlip, also linked to the pursuit, had an outstanding warrant for eluding police and was arrested. The female passenger was released without charges.

The injured deputy was treated for minor injuries at SOVA Health of Martinsville and is expected to make a full recovery.

The incident remains under investigation. Authorities encourage anyone with information to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at (276) 638-8751 or Crimestoppers at 63-CRIME (632-7463). Rewards of up to $2,500 are available for information related to criminal activity.
