

MARTINSVILLE, VA – Baseball fans got a thrill today in Martinsville – Lou Whitaker was in town filming with a Detroit film crew. Whitaker, nicknamed “Sweet Lou”, is an American former professional baseball second baseman who played for the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball from 1977 to 1995. He won the American League Rookie of the Year Award in 1978, and was a five-time MLB All-Star in his career.

Councilman Danny Turner replied, “Great to be with Detroit and Martinsville High School Baseball Great “Sweet Lou” Whitaker today. A film crew from Detroit was in town to film a special about Lou.”
