Danville is opening the next chapter of its outdoor public-art program, with professional sculptors invited to submit work for the 2026-2028 Danville Art Trail. Applications are due Monday, Aug. 24, 2026.
The city says the cycle is expected to display 19 sculptures along the Riverwalk, in parks and at other public locations. The exhibition may combine new submissions with pieces from Danville’s permanent collection, extending a program that began in 2015 with seven sculptures.
Artists selected for the two-year exhibition will receive a $2,500 honorarium for each work. Danville plans to notify artists no later than Sept. 18, with installation expected in October or November 2026; exact installation dates will be coordinated with accepted artists.
Eligibility requirements, application instructions and the full call are available through the City of Danville’s Artist Calls page. Parks and Recreation lists its contact office at Dan River Falls, 420 Memorial Drive, Suite 100, Danville, Virginia, and can be reached at 434-799-5200.
