Danville Police earn renewed CALEA accreditation through 2030

The Danville Police Department reported on March 20, 2026 that it received a second accreditation award from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), following its initial accreditation in 2022.

The city says the renewed designation carries accreditation through 2030 and reflects compliance across policy, administration, operations, and support-service standards reviewed by CALEA.

For Danville residents, accreditation milestones matter because they indicate continued external review of police procedures and agency systems at a time when local governments are emphasizing public-safety performance metrics.

The department also noted its Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission accreditation remains active, giving Danville dual accreditation status among a small number of agencies statewide.
