Greensboro wraps free-chlorine cycle and resumes chloramines this week

A Greensboro City News release says the city's routine temporary free-chlorine conversion program ended on April 6, 2026, with utility systems returning to chloramines as the standard disinfectant.

The city says the switch is coordinated with partner systems across the region, including Reidsville, and that the transition can take about five days.

During this period, Greensboro notes some customers may notice brief taste or odor differences, but both treatment methods remain safe for normal drinking-water use under federal and state standards.

For Greensboro-area households and commuters moving across Triad jurisdictions, this is a cross-city utility operations update with short-term service-awareness value.
