— A Home Depot parking lot turned into a scene of vehicle damage and a heavy police response Wednesday night, and new video is showing the aftermath of an incident involving former Martinsville Vice Mayor Jennifer Bowles.
The incident occurred at the Home Depot on Highway 9 Bypass West in Lancaster, where police say a woman drove her vehicle into multiple cars.
According to a police report, officers arrived to find several damaged vehicles before taking the woman into custody.
The woman is facing 15 charges, including aggravated assault, disorderly conduct and malicious injury to property. Lancaster police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Video from the scene shows damaged vehicles and officers responding to the parking lot. The incident also left some Lancaster residents questioning what led to the confrontation.
Resident Alicia Beetler told WCNC she was surprised the incident happened in her community. Another resident, Michael Ross, described the situation as an example of troubling behavior.
Sheri Pelfrey also told WCNC to consider the circumstances as the case moves forward, noting that there could be underlying issues that deserve attention.
Bowles previously served as vice mayor of Martinsville, Virginia. The incident has now drawn attention beyond Lancaster as details emerge about the charges and the police response.
The charges are allegations, and the case remains subject to the judicial process.
