Four other people were reportedly injured and taken to the hospital as authorities investigate the fatal incident in Georgia.

A 42-year-old man died Monday afternoon after being ejected from a roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia, striking other riders before landing beneath the attraction, according to police.

Cobb County police identified the man as Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem.

Investigators say Kariem was ejected from the ride shortly before 4 p.m. on Monday, October 12, and struck other riders before falling beneath the coaster.

When officers located Kariem, he was unconscious and not breathing. He was later pronounced dead.

According to Channel 2 Action News, four other people were injured and transported to a hospital. Officials have not released additional details about their injuries or conditions.

The ride was stopped following the incident, and riders were evacuated.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident. Six Flags has temporarily closed similar roller coasters at multiple parks as a precaution while the investigation continues.
