In this week's Tuesdays of Honor, Melvin Donahue of Roanoke is sharing the story of his father, PFC Clifton Donahue.
Clifton Donahue was drafted into the United States Army on Nov. 9, 1950, in the 28th Infantry Division. He then moved to the 384th Chemical Decontamination Company Headquarters and was detached to one of the most elite, highly classified and hazardous units of the post-World War II era, the 9710th Technical Support Unit.
He was honorably discharged on Nov. 14, 1956. His father passed from prostate cancer in 2012, and since then Melvin has restored his truck in his honor.
