🐶🔫 SEVEN YEARS FOR SHOOTING A DOG — BROWNIE DIDN’T DESERVE THIS

BASSETT, VA. — A Bassett man will spend seven years behind bars after being sentenced in connection with the shooting of his neighbor’s dog — a shooting that left the animal blind.

According to reports, the incident happened near the dog’s home on Holloway Drive, where investigators said the shooting occurred extremely close to the animal’s residence. Multiple people reported hearing gunshots at the time.

The dog survived — but not without paying a terrible price.

The animal suffered injuries that resulted in the loss of its eyesight.

Authorities identified Edwin Turner as the person responsible, and he was subsequently charged with animal cruelty and taken into custody.

Now the case has reached the sentencing stage, with Turner receiving a seven-year prison sentence.

Seven years.

For a dog that apparently was just minding its own business.

The case has also drawn attention because this wasn't simply a case of an animal being injured. The shooting permanently changed the animal's life.

While the dog can't exactly testify from the witness stand, its injuries tell the story.

A neighbor's dog. A gunshot. A dog left blind. And now a seven-year prison sentence.

Sometimes the best neighborhood dispute resolution tool is simply don't shoot the neighbor's dog.

Apparently, that needed to be said.

STAR NEWS — Because sometimes the neighborhood drama gets so crazy, even the dog needs a lawyer.
