Two Adults Dead After House Goes Up in Flames

ROANOKE, Va. — Two people are dead following an early-morning house fire in Roanoke that left a two-story home fully engulfed in flames.

Roanoke Fire-EMS crews were dispatched at approximately 2:44 a.m. Monday to the 1400 block of Greenbrier Avenue SE after reports of a structure fire.

When firefighters arrived, they found the two-story residence fully engulfed.

The incident was quickly upgraded to a two-alarm fire, bringing additional resources to the scene. Neighboring homes were evacuated as firefighters battled the blaze.

Fire crews also had to contend with downed power lines and a partial structural collapse, according to Roanoke Fire-EMS.

Working alongside the Fire Marshal's Office, firefighters located two victims inside the residence. Both were adults.

Their identities have not yet been released.

The Fire Marshal's Office is investigating to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
