Whole Foods Market has recalled additional prepared foods made with fresh jalapeno peppers over concerns they may be contaminated with salmonella.
The recall stems from jalapenos supplied by Taylor Fresh Farms and distributor Coast Citrus, which have been tied to a nationwide salmonella outbreak that has sickened more than 300 people across 27 states. The affected Whole Foods items include guacamole, salsas and other dips sold at stores nationwide.
Customers who bought the products are urged to throw them away or return them for a refund. Salmonella can cause fever, diarrhea and abdominal cramps, and can be serious for young children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems.
