Rockingham County residents can get practical health information, free food samples and a chance at a farmers-market produce voucher during a public health event Saturday, Sept. 26, in Reidsville.
The Rockingham County Division of Public Health will host a community conversation about the effects of prediabetes and diabetes from 8 a.m. to noon at Market Square, 303 S. Scales St. The event is free and is scheduled to coincide with the Reidsville farmers market.
The county says the program will include a cooking demonstration, healthy-lifestyle tips and giveaways. The first 25 people who complete a prediabetes risk screening will receive a $10 voucher for farmers-market produce, according to the official event notice.
Residents who need more information can call 336-342-8134. The event notice does not describe an advance registration requirement, so attendees should arrive early if they want to seek one of the limited vouchers.
