Explore Park sets September family night with Parrotheads on the Parkway

Families and music fans looking ahead to Labor Day weekend have a colorful outdoor option at Explore Park: Parrotheads on the Parkway is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026, from 5 to 9 p.m. on the lawn outside Twin Creeks Brewpub. The lawn opens at 4:30 p.m.

Roanoke County Parks, Recreation and Tourism describes the second annual event as a Jimmy Buffett-themed celebration with island décor, lawn games, tropical attire and live music. The lineup lists the TommyKEYS Duo from 5 to 6 p.m. followed by The Party Parrot Band from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

The event is priced with families in mind. Advance tickets are listed at $10 for ages 12 and older, $6 for ages 7 to 11, and free for children 6 and younger. Gate prices rise to $12 for ages 12 and older and $8 for ages 7 to 11. Food and drinks will be available for purchase at Twin Creeks, and the county says outside food and beverages are not allowed.

Visitors should bring lawn chairs and plan for an evening outdoors. The county also notes that Rocky Mount Smokehouse will be on site, while the event page lists the Explore Park address for visitor questions and online ticket details.
