Roanoke street closures planned for Sept. 26 Stair Climb

Drivers heading through downtown Roanoke should plan around several street closures Saturday, Sept. 26, during the city’s Stair Climb event.

The City of Roanoke says Norfolk will close between Wall and Market from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jefferson will close between Norfolk and Salem during the same period. Market will close between Norfolk and Salem from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., and Salem will close between Jefferson and Market during that same hour.

The city lists the event location as Roanoke, Virginia 24011 and advises residents with questions to use its Special Event Feedback Survey or call 540-853-2676. The notice does not name a single detour route, so drivers should allow extra time and follow posted traffic-control signs.

People with downtown appointments, deliveries or weekend plans should avoid the affected blocks during the listed windows and use alternate streets outside the closure area when possible.
