Roanoke reports recycling-service recovery after temporary CDL staffing strain

Roanoke officials reported that temporary recycling-service adjustments were being phased down after operational disruptions tied to a shortage of CDL-qualified drivers.

In the city update posted April 9, 2026, Roanoke said crews were adding Friday and Saturday work and expanding support steps with a target of restoring normal pickup by April 20, 2026.

The city also directed residents to use drop-off options at Tinker Creek Transfer Station during the adjustment period, while routine collection priorities were rebalanced across trash, bulk, and brush routes.

As of the April 20 target window now passed, the update remains a key service-reference point for residents checking whether neighborhood recycling timing has fully normalized.
