GALAX, VA – On August 31, the Galax Fire Department reported a dramatic rescue following a motor vehicle accident on Riverside Drive. Around 8 p.m., emergency responders arrived at the scene in the 1800 Block of Riverside Drive, where a single passenger vehicle had veered off the roadway and careened over an embankment, falling approximately 45 feet.
Fire officials confirmed that two individuals were trapped inside the vehicle. Independence Fire Department initiated the rescue efforts, and Galax Rescue 4 arrived shortly after to assist in extracting the last occupant.
Both victims were subsequently transported to a local hospital, where they are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
