BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. – Virginia State Police have identified the victim of a fatal crash on Route 24 as 19-year-old Carlos Omar Alvarez from Moneta. The accident occurred on September 4 at approximately 3:59 p.m.
According to police reports, Alvarez was driving a Honda Accord eastbound when he crossed the center line to avoid a slow-moving vehicle, resulting in a head-on collision with a GMC Denali. Tragically, Alvarez was not wearing a seatbelt and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Both the teen driver and passenger of the GMC Denali were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. As of now, their conditions remain undisclosed.
