Lynchburg, VA – A man was taken into custody following a prolonged standoff with law enforcement on Monday, September 16. The incident began around 4:40 p.m. when the Lynchburg Police Department attempted to serve an arrest warrant to 47-year-old Brian Burnette at his home on the 1800 block of Grace Street.

According to police reports, Burnette retreated into his residence and locked the doors, prompting officers to surround the area and make multiple efforts to communicate with him. To ensure public safety, several nearby roadways were closed during the standoff.

The situation was resolved without further incident, and Burnette was arrested. Further details about the charges he faces have yet to be released.
