*Lynchburg, VA – October 23, 2023* – A local man, Kevon Lamont McDaniel, has been sentenced to six years and five months in prison after being convicted on multiple drug and firearm-related charges stemming from a significant operation in Lynchburg.
McDaniel, 19, was among 47 individuals charged in April 2024 during "Operation Shockwave," a large-scale drug bust that led to the seizure of numerous firearms and enough illicit substances to potentially claim over 200,000 lives, as reported by the Lynchburg Police Department. This extensive operation was initiated in March 2023.
On April 8, McDaniel was found guilty in a bench trial of various offenses, including possession of a schedule I or II drug, intent to distribute such drugs, and possession of a firearm while engaged in these illegal activities.
On October 23, he received a sentence of 27 years, with 20 years and seven months suspended, resulting in his current prison term. This case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat drug-related crimes in the community.
