Weather Alert: Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Danville Area

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the Danville, Virginia area, effective immediately through 9:00 PM tonight.
According to meteorologists, the storm system is producing damaging winds up to 70 mph, quarter-size hail, and heavy rainfall that could lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas.
"Residents should take this warning seriously and seek shelter immediately," said Emergency Management Coordinator Lisa Thompson. "Stay away from windows and avoid travel unless absolutely necessary."
The storm is expected to move through the area over the next two hours. Power outages are possible, and residents are encouraged to have flashlights and battery-powered radios available.
