**Lynchburg Honors WWII Hero Sergeant Mayburn Hudson on 80th Anniversary of His Death**
On Wednesday, the family of World War II hero Sergeant Mayburn Hudson laid him to rest in Lynchburg, Virginia, marking a poignant moment 80 years after his sacrifice in Northern France.

Sergeant Hudson, whose remains were identified through DNA testing last December, was honored during a heartfelt ceremony at Fort Hill Memorial Park. His niece, Julie Allsep, expressed immense gratitude, stating, "It’s so wonderful and I’m just so thankful... what an honor for my uncle and the sacrifice that he gave."

The ceremony, attended by community members and veterans, included a solemn 21 Gun Salute, paying tribute to Hudson's bravery. Army Sergeant First Class Joseph Forsythe shared his honor in helping to bring Hudson home, saying, "I love being able to bring these service members home, laying them to rest in their hometowns, where they would love to be."

Coincidentally, the ceremony took place on National Purple Heart Day, further emphasizing the significance of Sergeant Hudson's service and the respect he garnered for his dedication to the country.
