A 22-year-old man, De’Corrius Dyson Thompson from Midlothian, has been arrested in connection with a shooting on Route 58 in Halifax County. The Danville Police Department apprehended Thompson following a be-on-the-lookout alert issued by the Virginia State Police on Friday, August 23.
Thompson was taken into custody at approximately 9:52 PM near the intersection of South Boston Road and Williamson Road. He faces multiple charges, including transporting a loaded rifle or shotgun, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon (first offense).
The incident, which took place around 9:30 PM, involved an altercation between two vehicles, resulting in injuries to a 59-year-old man. He was transported to a hospital in Roanoke with non-life-threatening injuries.
Currently, Thompson is held in the Danville City Jail without bond, and additional charges are expected, according to the Gazette-Virginian.
