**HENRICO, Va.** – In a significant change for the NASCAR Cup Series, Richmond Raceway will lose one of its two races starting in 2025, as confirmed by a track spokesperson on Tuesday afternoon.

NASCAR has announced a multi-year agreement for a new event at a road course in Mexico City, which will take the place of one of Richmond's traditional races. "This is going to be certainly a monumental event for us, the first time we’re going south of the border,” said Ben Kennedy, NASCAR's executive vice president and chief venue & racing innovation officer.

Despite the loss of one race, Kennedy emphasized NASCAR's ongoing commitment to Richmond, noting the track's rich history. According to **The Henrico Citizen**, Richmond Raceway has hosted two NASCAR Cup Series events annually since 1959, with the exception of the 2020 season due to COVID-19.

The full NASCAR schedule for 2025 has yet to be released, leaving fans uncertain about the timing of Richmond Raceway's remaining race in the upcoming season.
