**Pittsylvania County Man Found Guilty of First-Degree Murder**



In a significant ruling, Daniel Wayne Neal has been convicted of first-degree murder, statutory burglary, and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony related to the 2022 murder of Charles Van Hooker. The verdict was delivered by the court following a trial that revisited a case initially marred by a mistrial in July 2023, when a witness admitted to discussing testimony with another witness.



The murder took place on February 11, 2022, at 1328 Boxwood Road in Gretna, Virginia. Following his conviction, Neal is set to face sentencing at a later date.
