You can delete your GetStarNews / Star News account at any time. Deletion happens right away and cannot be undone.

How to delete your account

In the Star News app: open Settings, choose Delete account, and confirm with your password.
On the web: sign in at getstarnews.com and use the form at the bottom of this page.
By email: write to news@getstarnews.com from the email address or phone number on your account, with the subject "Delete my account". We will reply once it is done.

What we delete

Your username, which is replaced with "deleted-" and a number, and your display name, which is shown as "Deleted user".
Your phone number, your linked Google account and Google email, your bio, your website and your profile photo.
Your password and every sign-in token, so you are signed out on all devices.

What we keep

Stories, comments and forum posts you published stay up, credited to "Deleted user".
Tips, photos and other submissions you sent to the newsroom stay in newsroom records. Email news@getstarnews.com if you want a specific submission removed.
A record that the account was closed, plus sign-in and activity history tied only to the anonymous account number, kept for security.
Unredeemed reward points are forfeited.
