All Danville police operations moved to the former Dan River Inc. headquarters on August 30, 2022, in an $18 million renovation.
The 1967 Dan River Inc. executive office building sat vacant after the mills closed in 2006. It was renovated through a public-private partnership with developer Ed Walker using historic tax credits at a cost of $18 million. Before that, in 1926, the police department had been housed in the basement of City Hall.
