In August 2022 Caesars and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians announced a joint venture and construction began on the Danville resort.
The revised plan, announced in August 2022, grew the Danville casino project to $650 million and brought in the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians as a partner. Construction began that month at the Schoolfield site, with completion planned for late 2024. In April 2023 the Virginia Lottery Board issued the operator's license.
