Danville baseball team unveils Otterbots name 2021
Danville
The Danville team that had been the Danville Braves introduced its new name, the Otterbots, on March 16, 2021, as the Appalachian League became a college summer league.
WDBJ reported the name on March 16, 2021, saying it came from fan and community ideas. The team played at American Legion Post 325 Field, and the 2021 season opened in Danville on June 3. Cardinal News reports that Major League Baseball's reduction of its affiliated minor leagues left ten Appalachian League teams, including Danville, without affiliations before the 2021 season.
