Danville readies May 1 Riverfront Park opening event

The City of Danville has announced a community opening celebration for Riverfront Park at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, May 1, marking a major milestone for downtown waterfront redevelopment.

According to the city’s April 20 notice, the event plan includes live music, family activities, and a drone show designed to draw regional attendance along the Dan River corridor.

The launch follows months of public communications around the project and signals a transition from construction and planning into regular community use of the site.

Residents and visitors should expect heavier activity in and around riverfront access points Friday evening as Danville opens one of its highest-profile new public spaces.
