Danville city officials announced that the River District's 2-hour timed parking program expanded beginning May 15, 2026, with new coverage on Craghead and Bridge streets plus sections of Wilson, Newton, and Colquhoun.
The city says the expansion is intended to manage turnover in high-demand curbside spaces, a common pressure point for downtown customers, restaurant traffic, and retail staff during peak periods.
For drivers, the operational change is simple: routes that previously allowed longer curb occupancy may now carry stricter turnover enforcement, increasing the risk of citation when timing is not monitored.
For businesses and visitors, this is a meaningful River District access update as spring and summer event activity rises downtown.
