Pittsylvania supervisors set July 21 hearings on zoning, voting site and fire-EMS code

Pittsylvania County residents have a broad public-hearing slate to review before the Board of Supervisors meets next week in Chatham.

The county's Board Meeting Notices page lists several hearings for 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2026, in the Board Meeting Room, 39 Bank Street, Chatham. The zoning notice lists four cases: a US 58/Martinsville Highway industrial rezoning for intended auto sales, two agricultural rezoning requests on FC Beverly Road and Wilkes Drive/Farmers Mountain Road, and an Avio request on Pocket Road to shift 1.28 acres from heavy industrial to residential for combination with an adjacent parcel.

The same meeting notice board also lists a proposed Bachelors Hall Precinct polling-place move from the volunteer fire department at 1301 Berry Hill Road to the gymnasium at Faith Memorial Baptist Church, 7450 Martinsville Highway. Another hearing concerns removing the county code section establishing the Fire and EMS Commission, while a separate Chatham tower-space lease notice names New Cingular Wireless PCS, LLC and lists proposed rent of $2,413.85 per month beginning September 5, 2026, with later renewal increases.

  • What to know: The county says full materials are available through the county website and offices during regular business hours.
  • Who is affected: Property owners near the listed rezoning sites, Westover Election District voters, volunteer fire and rescue stakeholders, telecom users and residents who track county revenue agreements.
  • Why it matters: The hearing package combines land use, voting access, public-safety governance and county-owned infrastructure in one supervisors meeting.

Residents who want to comment should review the individual notices and attend the July 21 hearing or contact county staff through the official channels listed by Pittsylvania County.
