Danville Treasurer office receives state accreditation

Danville’s Treasurer’s Office has received a statewide professional accreditation that recognizes its administrative and financial-management practices.

The Treasurers’ Association of Virginia accreditation took effect July 1, 2026, according to a city notice posted July 20. The voluntary program requires annual renewal, and the association said 77 treasurer offices received accreditation this year.

The city notice says the review includes an outside audit with no findings of material weakness, continuing education for the treasurer or principal officer and staff, and written policies covering areas such as personnel, customer service and delinquent collections.

Accreditation is not required for a Virginia treasurer’s office, but the association describes it as recognition that an office meets statewide best practices for treasury management. Residents should continue using the city’s normal Treasurer’s Office channels for payments, account questions and other services.
