Pittsylvania FY27 budget increases economic development funding

Pittsylvania County's new fiscal year opens with a larger economic-development commitment on the books, giving the Danville-Pittsylvania corridor more room to pursue sites, incentives and growth-support projects.

The county's FY2026-27 budget materials list a total budget of $264,888,922 and show economic development increasing by $1.5 million compared with the prior budget. The county says the fiscal year runs from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027; the same budget package also includes increases for the general fund, water and sewer, schools and solid waste.

Economic-development funding is rarely a single check to a relocating company. It can support site work, approved incentives, recruitment, planning and the public infrastructure that makes industrial and commercial property more competitive. In a corridor already tracking Berry Hill, the Southern Virginia Multimodal Park and major manufacturing prospects, the allocation is a signal about where county leaders expect future returns to come from.
