Danville and Pittsylvania County tourism businesses, event organizers and community partners have a funding deadline approaching for projects designed to draw visitors to the region.
The Danville Office of Economic Development & Tourism says the Visit SoSi Tourism Sponsorship application portal will remain open until 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, 2026. Eligible projects, programs and events must take place between October 2026 and Sept. 30, 2027.
The program is reimbursable and prioritizes proposals that can show how promotion will increase visitation and exposure for the Visit SoSi region. The city says the same project may receive only one sponsorship per year, and awards are expected to be announced beginning in September.
Tourism operators and organizers can review the requirements and apply through Visit SoSi. The opportunity is aimed at projects that can demonstrate a clear visitor-economy benefit, not at ongoing operating support.
