Greensboro Urban Loop completed

The final section of the Greensboro Urban Loop, between North Elm Street and U.S. 29, opened on January 23, 2023, completing the beltway.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation built the loop in segments over two decades. The first section opened in 2002, and later sections opened on April 19, 2018, December 30, 2019, and December 23, 2020 before the final stretch.
