Guilford County Big Pick volunteer harvest returns Oct. 3

Guilford County Parks is inviting volunteers to the second scheduled session of its 2026 Big Pick grape harvest on Saturday, Oct. 3. The volunteer morning runs from 9 a.m. to noon at Guilford County Farm, 7315 Howerton Road, Gibsonville.

The annual harvest gives residents a chance to help collect grapes that will be donated to local food banks, shelters and community kitchens. No previous harvest experience is required, and the county's event listing says people may register for the Oct. 3 date even though the first session was held Sept. 26.

Volunteers should dress for outdoor work, wear closed-toe shoes and consider bringing sunscreen and a hat. The county registration form allows one person to add up to 10 additional participants; larger groups should contact John Gladstone at jgladst@guilfordcountync.gov or 336-339-2329.

Residents planning to attend should complete the county's registration form and check the official event page for weather or scheduling updates before leaving for the farm. The event is a practical way for families, civic groups and other volunteers to connect local harvest work with food-access programs.
