Greensboro crews clear water-main break with temporary lane shutdown

Greensboro issued an emergency lane-closure notice April 29 after an eight-inch water main break forced both eastbound lanes of the 3900 block of West Friendly Avenue to close during active repairs.

The city said approximately 20 customers were without service as Water Resources crews worked the site, with signs and traffic cones in place and motorists asked to use alternate routes.

Officials projected restoration work through evening hours and advised residents to run cold water briefly after service returns if tap water appears cloudy or discolored.

For commuters and nearby neighborhoods, the notice highlighted how utility-emergency repairs can quickly shift traffic flow and short-term service conditions across a major Greensboro corridor.
