The National Weather Service in Blacksburg says widely scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop across Henry County and Martinsville during the afternoon and evening of Thursday, Aug. 20, 2026.
In its 4:18 a.m. Hazardous Weather Outlook, NWS said a few storms could become capable of producing damaging wind gusts. Heavy rainfall may also cause localized flash flooding.
Additional thunderstorms are possible Friday afternoon and evening. NWS says those storms may produce heavy rain and localized flash flooding, although spotter activation is not expected for the Henry County outlook area at this time.
