Greensboro Start Smart Basketball registration runs through August 3

Greensboro families with preschool-age children have a practical youth sports registration window open now.

Greensboro Parks and Recreation lists Start Smart Basketball registration as open from June 25 through August 3, 2026. The program is for children ages 3-5, and parent or guardian participation is required for Start Smart programs.

The city says the basketball program includes six skill-building sessions from 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, beginning the week of August 17 and ending the week of September 28. Session locations may vary.

The posted cost is $30 for six sessions, and Greensboro says participants receive a Start Smart T-shirt. The city lists the Greensboro Sportsplex as the contact point at 336-373-3272.

Registration note: Greensboro's youth sports registration page says families should be ready with the program registration form if registering in person, a copy of the child's birth certificate, a parent or guardian PAYS membership card and payment. First-time participants may need to register in person so staff can verify age and PAYS membership.
