48 individuals indicted following 14-month investigation; authorities continue search for wanted suspects
HENRY COUNTY, Va. — A Henry County Grand Jury has returned 122 felony indictments against 48 individuals following a series of narcotics investigations conducted throughout Henry County over a 14-month period.
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office said the indictments stem from investigations conducted by its Vice and Drug Interdiction Units into the possession and distribution of illegal narcotics.
The cases involve a variety of controlled substances, including methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, heroin, xylazine and other illegal drugs.
According to Sheriff Wayne Davis, the investigations required extensive work by investigators, including gathering information, conducting surveillance, collecting evidence and working through the judicial process before presenting the cases to a grand jury.
Authorities say several individuals have already been arrested and served with their indictments. The Sheriff’s Office continues working to locate and apprehend others who remain wanted.
Among those indicted is David Scott Bonhams, who faces a charge of distribution of methamphetamine, third or subsequent offense, according to the information released.
Sheriff Wayne Davis said the agency will continue targeting individuals suspected of selling and distributing illegal drugs in Henry County.
“Those who choose to sell and distribute illegal drugs in Henry County should understand that we are going to continue coming after you,” Davis stated.
The sheriff said investigators will continue building cases and working with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office to pursue prosecution.
The Sheriff’s Office credited its investigators, deputies and law enforcement partners for their work on the cases. Assistance was provided by the Patrick County Sheriff’s Office, Martinsville Police Department and Virginia State Police. Community members who provided information about suspected drug activity were also recognized.
Authorities say additional updates will be released as more individuals are located, arrested and served with their indictments.

An indictment is a formal accusation, not a finding of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
