— A months-long investigation that began with multiple cyber tips has led to the arrest of a 42-year-old Rockingham County man, according to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office.
Members of the Invictus Task Force began investigating in May 2026 after receiving multiple reports from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
During the investigation, authorities identified 42-year-old Mark William Keene Jr. as a suspect.
On September 24, members of the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team, Criminal Investigations Division and Invictus Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence on Will O Pat Road in Reidsville.
Authorities say Keene was taken into custody following the search.
He was charged with two counts of felony second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
Keene was transported to the Rockingham County Detention Center, where a magistrate set a $250,000 secured bond.
His first appearance in Rockingham County District Court is scheduled for September 30, 2026.
INVESTIGATION NOT OVER
The Sheriff's Office says the investigation remains active, and additional charges are expected.
Anyone with information related to the investigation is asked to contact the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office Invictus Task Force at 336-634-3238.
Sheriff B. Parker thanked the Invictus Task Force and its partner agencies for their assistance during the operation and commended the department's Special Response Team and detectives.
“The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, and its partnership with the Invictus Task Force, will continue to take real action, hold perpetrators accountable, and bring justice to the victims…plain and simple,” Parker said.
The Invictus Task Force is a regional effort involving Randolph, Alamance, Davidson, Forsyth and Rockingham counties, the Liberty Police Department, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and Homeland Security Investigations.
The task force works to combat internet crimes against children, sexual abuse, trafficking and the exploitation of children by combining resources from multiple agencies.
For now, investigators say the case remains active — and more charges could be coming.
