— A 27-year-old Eden man is facing drug charges after authorities say illegal substances were found during the booking process at the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility.
The sheriff’s office says Dylan Jared Summerlin, 27, of Eden, was charged on September 25, 2026 with:
- Felony possession of a controlled substance on prison or jail premises
- Simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance
According to the sheriff’s office, Summerlin had been arrested by another agency and was being processed at the detention facility when officers allegedly found the substances before he was housed inside the jail.
Summerlin was taken before a Rockingham County magistrate and given a $10,000 secured bond. His court date was set for October 1, 2026.
Sheriff Sam Page Parker praised detention officers for what he described as continued diligence and professionalism, specifically recognizing Sgt. Daniels and Sgt. Kentrolis for locating the alleged contraband during the search.
The sheriff’s office says it has recently implemented additional search procedures, assigned a detention facility detective, and added other resources aimed at reducing illegal drugs inside the jail.
The charges are allegations, and Summerlin is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
