According to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, Alton Ray Pyron was taken into custody by the agency’s Patrol Division C-Shift following an investigation and coordinated operation to apprehend him.

Following his arrest, Pyron appeared before a Rockingham County magistrate, who ordered that he be held without bond. He was then transported to the Rockingham County Detention Facility, where he will remain pending his scheduled court date on November 2, 2026.

Sheriff Sam Page praised the deputies involved in the operation, crediting their professionalism, vigilance and persistence for helping bring the wanted suspect into custody.

The sheriff’s office identified Deputies J. Pulliam, Au. Vaughn, A. Peters, D. Webb, M. Michaels and E. Alverez, along with Sgt. Paschal, for their work in the apprehension.
