— A domestic-related dispute that began over a returned vehicle and personal belongings escalated into a shooting Saturday at a Sheetz convenience store in Ridgeway, leaving one person shot and a 65-year-old man facing a felony firearm charge.
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the shooting at the Sheetz located at 6758 Greensboro Road.
According to investigators, the individuals involved knew one another through current and former relationships. The dispute reportedly began earlier in the day after a vehicle was returned, sparking an argument over personal belongings.
The disagreement continued through phone calls and text messages before the individuals later met at the convenience store.
Investigators said the dispute escalated into a confrontation at Sheetz, where a firearm was discharged and one person was shot. The victim was transported for medical treatment. Their condition has not been released.
65-YEAR-OLD ARRESTED
Darryl Bernard Dandridge, 65, was taken into custody and charged with possession of a firearm by a violent convicted felon.
The sheriff’s office said investigators have consulted with the Henry County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office regarding whether additional charges are appropriate.
The investigation remains active.
Authorities said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
