— A driver was flown to a trauma center Saturday night after a single-vehicle crash left them trapped inside a vehicle over an embankment, according to the Hillsville Fire Department.

Emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 9:38 p.m. to the intersection of Carrollton Pike and Woodlawn Road.

Responders found the vehicle over an embankment with the driver trapped inside. Crews stabilized the vehicle and removed a door to safely reach the driver.

After being extricated, the driver was taken to a medic at the scene before EMS crews transported them to Twin County Airport for an airlift to a trauma center.
