A Reidsville Police Department K9 will receive a bullet- and stab-resistant vest through a charitable donation, according to the department.
K9 Curo will receive the protective vest through Vested Interest in K9s Inc., with the vest sponsored through the organization's Survival Armor incentive program. The custom-fitted vest is expected to be delivered within 10 weeks and will be embroidered with the message, Gifted by Vested Interest in K9s and Survival Armor.
Vested Interest in K9s is a nonprofit organization that provides protective vests and other assistance to law enforcement and related agencies across the United States. The organization said the vests are made in the U.S., custom-fitted for each K9 and certified by the National Institute of Justice. Since the organization was established in 2009, it has provided more than 6,677 protective vests valued at $6.9 million to K9s in all 50 states.
