– A Sunday snooze in somebody else's driveway turned into a rather rude awakening for an Eden man after Rockingham County deputies reportedly discovered illegal drugs and encountered resistance while attempting to make an arrest.

According to the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle near 14280 NC Highway 87 in Eden on October 18, 2026.

When deputies arrived, they found 55-year-old Harvey Harold Wilson Jr. of Eden asleep inside a vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence where authorities said he did not belong.

What started as a suspicious vehicle investigation quickly became something more serious.

During the investigation, Deputy J. Pulliam and his four-legged partner, K-9 Olga, were called in to assist. Authorities reported discovering illegal narcotics.

When deputies attempted to detain Wilson, investigators say he resisted their efforts. Deputies ultimately took him into custody.

Wilson was arrested and charged with five offenses:

Felony possession of cocaine

Felony possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine

Possession of marijuana

Possession of drug paraphernalia

Resisting a public officer

Following his arrest, Wilson was taken before a magistrate, where he was ordered held without bond at the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office Detention Facility.

His next scheduled court appearance is October 28, 2026.

Rockingham County Sheriff Billy Parker praised Deputy D. Hayes, Corporal D. Guerra, Deputy J. Pulliam and K-9 Olga for their work during the investigation.

Parker also commended his department's continued efforts to combat illegal drugs and crime throughout Rockingham County.

For Wilson, what apparently began as an opportunity to catch a few Z's ended with a trip to jail and a list of criminal charges.

All charges are allegations, and Wilson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
