Henry County Public Schools is considering consolidating three elementary schools as the division deals with declining enrollment, and the school board has scheduled a public hearing to take community feedback. The discussion includes Stanleytown Elementary, Campbell Court Elementary and Sanville Elementary, according to the public notice.

The three schools currently serve a combined total of about 740 students, making them the elementary schools with the lowest enrollment in the district. Board Chairman Teddy Martin III said the review covers enrollment figures across all elementary schools, the buildings themselves and capital improvements, describing it as a general review and due diligence rather than an immediate action. Vice Chairman Ben Gravely and Superintendent Dr. Amy Blake-Lewis did not immediately return calls seeking comment.

The hearing begins at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, in the first-floor Summerlin Room of the Henry County Administration Building at 3300 Kings Mountain Road in Martinsville, and the board's regular meeting follows. Parent Margaret Collins said consolidation would uproot children from the only school they have known and said she plans to speak at the hearing, adding that she and her husband are considering homeschooling if the change moves forward.
