Radford University will hold a ribbon-cutting Oct. 23 on its new state-of-the-art e-sports facility, a growing program at the school and across the country.
The $1.2 million, 10,000-square-foot facility gives the Highlanders a dedicated home for competitive gaming. In 2026, Radford was runner-up in the Big South championship and won the Mid-Atlantic Esports Conference title the year before. Senior Marky McWhorter, who captains two of the women's e-sports teams, says she helped set it up from the beginning and has watched it grow, calling it cool to see it develop over time.
The university also hosted the 2024 Big South Championship and again hosted the event this past year.
